Higgs Boson

Some real big news.

Short story. They've found something, and have enough data to dive the odds of it not being anything to be low, low, low.

Via: Ace of Spades.

Watch and note how this man hedges and hems and considered what they might have found what they might not have and all the things they don't know. And all the ways they could be wrong.

Now contrast that with Climate Change where "the science is Settled!"

Something with a Five Sigma error measurement and nigh countless experiments, versus something that is non repeatable and has only a couple centuries of even partial direct data and one set of indirect data. Oh and also has near worthless models that don't account for the myriad of factors that govern the system, and can't even do a basic calibration run.

"Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge"
-Charles Darwin
"One of the painful things about our time is that those who feel certainty are stupid, and those with any imagination and understanding are filled with doubt and indecision"
-Bertrand Russell

But again, the financial push for the Higgs Boson pales in comparison to the financial push that "Climate Change" can bring.

Is refreshing to see some scientists that actually do their homework though.
